New Challenge: 87 Days of Paleo!

Facebook comes to my rescue again! Got an invite to a group the other day “87 Days of Paleo“. Just what I needed. For the last little bit I’ve been trying to get back on the Paleo diet, with not much success, I’d keep cheating, and with getting my new apartment ready to move into I’ve been all over the place with my eating (for the first time EVER actually MISSING meals!).
Kate Rawlings of Crossfit Cleveland is running an 87 day fitness challenge for her firm. To make it a challenge for herself as well, she chose to add in the 87 days of paleo. Making it a group brings it out into the public, and it’s always easier to accomplish something when you got people watching you. And in perfect timing too, I’ll be out on my own (FINALLY) by Monday – the same day that the challenge is set to start!
Said to be “The World’s Healthiest Diet“, this won’t just be a hard challenge, it will be bringing with it improved fitness, health, and well-being.
The Paleo Diet is a way of eating in the modern age that best mimics the nutrition of our evolutionary and genetic heritage – an ancestral, Paleolithic diet. For millions of years our hunter-gatherer ancestors ate combinations of lean meats, seafoods, vegetables, fruits, and nuts. But today in America, more than 70% of our dietary calories come from foods that our Paleolithic (Stone Age) ancestors rarely if ever ate … and that modern humans are not genetically adapted to eat. The result is epidemic levels of cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, obesity, osteoporosis, arthritis, acne, gastrointestinal disease, and more.

I’ll be tracking my results through this challenge, the first few weeks should be interesting while I go through “sugar withdrawl”, and I’ll keep adding new Paleo recipes as I go.
I urge everybody reading this to give it a try as well, see how long you can last, trust me, it’ll be worth it!
Here’s a nice simple site I found with tonns of great recipes and ideas

You do not need supplementing on the paleo diet as much as people think (really if you do it well, you don’t need any).
Eating a large variety of fresh fruit and vegetables will get you all you need.
People think way too highly of our amazing “multi vitamins” and our out-of-this-world “enriched foods” and forget all that shit comes from the stuff we avoid eating!
