Don’t be a Cheater!

Society today is housing too many damn weaklings! And I don’t just mean physically, what happened to people’s minds?! Why do people so easily (and nonchalantly) just cheat?

I was running a Crossfit class this morning, and one of the attendees would just skip out on reps left and right. The workout was 50-40-30-20-10 of Double Unders, Box Jumps, and Sit Ups. I knew this one lady was a habitual cheater from previous classes, so I started counting after she blasted through her first round.

She couldn’t do double unders, so she was prescribed to hit up 3 times the number of singles. So the second round came, and she confirms that 120 single skips need to be done, then gets on her way… Dropping her rope at 70 and heading to her box… Seriously, 70?! That’s not even close, you can’t even chalk that one up to a miscount, no chance in hell. Then her box jumps, a normal occurance, breaking them up into smaller more manageable sets. 10 sounds good, 4 sets of 10 with a little breather between each. Well she chose to do 3 sets of 9, followed by a set of 8 and then off to the sit ups. I mean come on lady, what the fuck?

I’m totally ok with people that physically can’t do the workout, cause ya know we can modify it so that YOU CAN DO IT. Don’t just puss out! Or better yet, completely fucken cheat just so you can get a better time!

What do you get from cheating? The point of Crossfit is to increase your physical capabilities. Cheating through your workout will not do that. Toughing it out and finishing the workout properly, even if it’s a shit time – WILL!

And how the hell do these people expect to gauge their results too? I mean she happily ran over to her book and jotted down her time for the workout, but what happens when she comes back to this workout in the future? Will she just try and cheat more to beat her current time? Or did she record the workout including her cheating, so that she may cheat the exact same the next time around to accurately determine her progress?

Bottom line, when you cheat, you’re not beating the other people in the class, you’re not furthering your fitness – You’re looking like a damn fool!
