Homemade Training Bag

A Bulgarian strength training bag to be exact – a great training tool, initially created for wrestlers.
I came across a post somewhere (pretty sure it was on Zach Even-Esh’s site) on how to make your own home version of this wicked piece of training equipment. I had owned the real thing a while back, but failed to use it all that much, and decided to sell ‘er to a friend. However now I want to start using it again, so here I am blogging about making my own, and I suggest to any/all fighters, wrestlers, and crossfitters out there to make one yourself.
Total cost is under $50. Here’s what you need:

- inner tube for a car tire
- bag of sand
- zip ties
- duct tape
- exacto-knife
Start out by cutting out a small section of the tube.

Next up, grab a zip tie and your duct tape. Twist the end of the tube and cinch on a zip tie about 4-6 inches from the end. Tightly wrap the end in duct tape, making it into a handle.

Now get your sand, and start filling! I added about 7-10lbs of lead shot in with the sand for some added weight. You should be able to get about half of a 66lbs bag of sand into the tube.

Now cap off the open end the same way you did the first, zip tie it shut and duct tape the fuck outa it!

And there you have it!
My finished bag weighed in at 52lbs. I’ll put this little guy to the test tomorrow, see how she holds up. The whole procedure took me about 15 minutes, it took longer to buy the materials. And should I want to build another, all I need is the inner tire – I have enough left over tape, zip ties, and sand for a second bag no problem.
Hope you all have fun playing with your bag! I know I will!
Well you sure are a clever fuck,,,,i dont see my name pic or brief decription on what a fucking Gennius i am and what a difference a trainer of world champians (not to mention good looking) can make
