The time has come to announce that Wreck MMA will be back in Gatineau on Friday August 20th to present Wreck MMA: Bad Intentions. But, this time around, Wreck MMA is heading to the prestigious Casino du Lac-Lemay to showcase the top MMA event in Gatineau.

In the main event of the evening, two of the top welterweights in Canada will be facing off to determine the number one contender for the Wreck Welterweight Title. After an impressive Wreck debut against the popular Louis-Philippe Carle, Simon ‘The Mutant’ Marini returns to the Wreck ring to face the talented FIT MMA fighter Cory Macdonald.

“Both these fighters have the talent to fight in the top organizations in the world,” said Wreck matchmaker Alex Caporicci. “I believe the winner of this fight can potentially take the next step and follow another Wreck veteran in Mark Holst and make their way to the UFC, Strikeforce or to Japan.”

Macdonald has been eagerly anticipating a fight for about a year and is ecstatic to be stepping into the Wreck ring and being featured in the main event. Macdonald sports a 10-2-0 record and has wins against UFC veteran Edwin Dewees and talented Canadians Matt Macgrath, Dan Grandmaison, Martin Grandmont and Rowan Cunningham. In his last bout, Macdonald defeated Team Revolution member Thiago Goncalves. Marini also came off a long layoff prior to his last bout and has a win against UFC Veteran and former King of the Cage lightweight champion, Alberto Crane. Expect a lot of bad intentions in this bout, as this is an opportunity to take their career to the next level.

Look for an announcement shortly with additional fights as they get signed and where to buy your tickets for Wreck MMA: Bad Intentions!!

WRECK MMA: BAD INTENTIONS

I just want to start off saying that smoking weed and trying to drive to a gym in Toronto that you haven’t been to in months…. not going to work out very well. hahaha

Now, you may or may not be wondering why a fitness professional like myself smokes weed. Well for starters, from a strictly health perspective, there’s nothing wrong with it. Let me explain, before you weed haters go nuts.

Smoking itself does not destroy your lungs, nor does it cause cancer. You are simply inhaling the smoke of a burning plant. Before us damn white people came to this lovely lump of land, Native Americans smoked tobacco all the time, and yet never needed a lung transplant, nor did they develop cancerous tumors. It’s all the other crap that our fine government puts into the cigarettes that does all that good stuff. The nicotine that makes the cigarettes addictive (yes maybe tobacco already has that in it, but they up the concentration up for good luck), and the tar that fucks with your lungs. Without those excellent additions, cigarettes would be just fine Good thing our government is looking out for us eh!

See if cigarettes weren’t addictive who knows how their sales would be?! I mean come on, the people that run these businesses need to eat to! And if they didn’t cause cancer, what would all the nurses and doctors do for work? You think doctors want to waste their time finding cures for problems that are actually outside our control? Come on people, that’s just being silly.

Now that we got that part out of the way, nah I still got some more to go, let me rant a bit more.

The plus side to weed? Nothing right, just a gateway drug, one day it’s a joint with your friends and off to the Chinese buffet, the next day BOOM you’re injecting heroine in some dark ally after paying for it with sexual favours. I know how it works…. Not sure why nobody will take my sexual favours in exchange for weed though, I mean I keep offering, hmmm.

Weed has far too many benefits to talk about them all, so let’s just cover a few…

Anti-Depressant. I’ve never been down, smoked a bowl, and wanted to kill myself haha. I’m one happy mother fucker when I’m high damn it.

Motivator. You think weed only makes people lazy? No, it’s kinda like steroids, it only enhances what you already are. If you’re lazy without weed, you’ll be lazier with weed. If you’re a powerhouse in the gym, with weed you’ll workout more often, and harder. I smoke weed and can’t wait to fucken workout!

Pain relief. Ever had a vicious headache that no number of chemically man made pills can solve? Smoke some fucken weed and you’ll forget why you even smoked the damn weed to begin with!

How’s that for a top 3? Now lets all examine the most popular other legal alternative that are totally acceptable.

Alcohol. You ever try working out drunk? Or try fucken ANYTHING drunk for that matter? Exactly, nuff said. Not to mention if you do it often, you’re estrogen’s gonna rise, and your testosterone is gonna drop, which leads to less working out, more eating, and a beautiful pair of man-boobs.

Fuck that noise. I like not having tits. You guys out there reading this that have tits… Have you no self respect? Honestly, why don’t you just shove your dick up your ass and fashion a labia outa your scrotum. You are not men, you aren’t even tough enough to call yourself women, I’d say you’re closer to a pre-teen spoiled flamboyantly gay male pianist.

Jesus Christ, where was I even going with this? Ah yes! So today was to be Day One back on track getting ready for the next fight, however I am a retard. Got ripped in the morning, not usual at all, mainly keep my toking to the late afternoon and early evening, but today was special. Now I can’t find my way home on a good day, and that was well before I ever smoked weed, so don’t go blaming the weed! For some reason I thought I knew how to get to Grant Bros MMA in North York, last time I was there was probably a solid 6 weeks ago, and the first time I couldn’t find it on 3 separate occasions. Needless to say I didn’t find it today either.

Actually, I have no idea where the fuck I was. I’m getting excited about 2 new e-books/e-programs I’m working on, as well as many summer camps. So I was thinking about them the whole way, and ended up on Lakeshore in Toronto. Knowing I was clearly in the wrong fucken place I spent 30 minutes finding the highway again, and made my way home haha.

Anyways, tomorrow I’ll actually google map the fucken place, and Wednesday my ass is back at ‘er 111% (that’s 1 more than most big time athletes give, cause I kickass my friends). Take care all you rat bastards, and stay alert, cause the site is currently being revamped, gonna be badass, and got lots of sick shit coming out to get your asses JACKED UP and RIPPED TO THE BONE!

Excerpt taken from bloodycanucksmma.com

Louis Phillip Carle vs. Simon Marini
Co-main event.

The crowd favoured Carle starts off the round with a nice jab, that is answered with an identical jab from Marini. Both fighters are very technical strikers, and pick their shots wisely. Marini, who is the flatter of the two on the feet, uses his head movement to draw shots, and counters well vs. Carle, who lands the better of the exchanges. Marini ties up Carle and being the strong of the two is able to move Carle into the corner where the two continue to exchange knees and rabbit punches from the tie up. Marini drags Carle to the ground, where they scramble back to their feet, and when they break free Carle catches Marini with a nice hook that leaves a mouse and a small cut under Marini’s left eye. The round ends and the fighters return to their corner.

Bloodycanucks scores the round 10-9 Carle

Round two sees Carle even lighter on his feet, and he starts taking it to the leg of the flatter footed Marini with a nice hard leg kick to open the round. After a brief exchange Marini catches Carle which sees him stumble on the mat and fall to a knee, Marini takes full advantage and jumps on Carle’s back, and sinks in the RNC to end the fight at 2:08 into round 2.

I recently meet up with a guy looking to get fit. He’s overweight, and sick of it, but has no idea how to go about it in the right way. So many questions I’ve heard from other people, and I see him doing all the wrong stuff that idiot trainers have taught him at his gym, or useless nonsense he has picked up from watching the Biggest Loser.

Here’s one of my replies, outlined his problems, with my easy solutions…
I always skip breakfast.

Make sure you always have skim milk on hand, and grab yourself a low carb protein powder (really doesn’t matter which brand, just anything with minimal carbs, ie under 10 grams). In the morning, as soon as you wake up, before anything else throw half a banana, a glass of milk, and a scoop of protein in a blender and down it with any vitamins you take. then go about your normal business. it’ll take you all of 5 minutes, tops.

My portions way too large (especially at dinner).

Get yourself a water bottle. Don’t just buy any one either, find one that you actually like the look of, it’ll make you be proud to carry it around, trust me, this shit actually does matter haha. try and drink water all day long, never go without at least a gulp every hour. And when you feel like snacking on something, take a few big chugs. Lots of times we feel hungry but it’s actually thirst.

I’m not eating enough fruits.

Fruits are basically just sugar. Stay away from them. Only eat fruit in the am, and try to keep it to 2 pieces a day MAX. The half a banana in your morning shake is plenty, trust me. If you need an energy booster later on, or want a snack before lunch, eat an apple.

I eat way too many carbs, and barely any protein.

Get protein in EVERY meal, even snacks. If you’re eating a plate of veggies and beef, eat all the beef first, every ounce. Then down a glass of water, let it all settle, and then move to the rest of it. Meat is what we’ve lived on for 10,000 years, it should always be the main attraction of any meal.

I overeat (obviously).
All the other stuff I already said should take care of this. If you’re downing water all day you’ll be less hungry, so you’re less likely to gorge when you get to dinner. And by making sure you eat shit loads of protein, you’ll also stay full longer.

Lastly, it’s good to hear you’re doing weights. However lets get you doing it a bit different. Ideally aim to do cardio 2 times a week and weights 3.

When you do weights, don’t think of a full body workout as doing each body part separately and accumulating into a full body workout. Work your body as a whole unit. Pick exercises that make you feel worked/sore in more than one place at a time. Put a few isolation exercises together (grab some dumbbells and hold them at your sides, do 5 squats, then 10 lunges, then 10 curls, then 15 presses, rest 30 seconds then repeat). Your workouts will be shorter, but more effective.

Then for your cardio days, make sure you’re still doing intervals. Choose either a rower or a treadmill (or a skipping rope if you can skip, and actually, if you can’t skip, get a rope and start practicing, it’s amazing for you. use it as your warm up. just skip for 5-10 minutes, resting as needed before you start your weights). Then warm up for 5 minutes nice and easy, then go back and forth from high intensity to low. High intensity would be like running/sprinting, low would be a jog. Choose to go for a certain distance or time, and choose how many intervals you want to do before you start (no less than 5, ideally 10 working intervals). Do 100m sprints then 100m jog to rest, and repeat 10 times. Or 30 second sprint with 30 sec jog, etc.

After that we did repeats of the pro agility mixed with 4 fast combinations on the heavy bag. Did 10 repeats, going on each 30 second mark. Fun wow, ha.

Glad to be back at it, did better than I thought! Can`t wait to see what this crazy asshole has in store next!

Today I first did Alchemy’s WOD from Monday:

10 Thrusters @ 95lbs

20 Double Unders

4 rounds

Did that in 4:17. Sucked the damn juice right outa my quads, fuck!

Next up I threw on my gloves and did some intervals on the bag, 30 seconds on, 30 off.

in, 1-2, out

in, 1-2, out

jab + right hook

right straight + left hook

1-2 1-2 1-2, etc

Rested a few minutes, then did today’s WOD:

10 Hanging Knees to Elbows

10 Sprawls

20 Sit Ups

4 rounds

Abs are fucken ruined! hahaha. Took me around 7:30 with a break early on to tie the dog up further from the entrance haha.

Feels good to be back at the met con work. Tomorrow I start back at my full on MMA conditioning work, going to be twice a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays.

And I think that after another 2 weeks of WS4SB I’m gonna go back to the 531 routine, warming up with gymnastics and agility work, and ending with a short fast met con. Fucken eh!

Shit son! Woke up still feeling my flu-like symptoms from Friday. I imagine it stems from the result of eating like fucken garbage the last few weeks. Well no more!

Today set off a 6 week contest here at Alchemy Crossfit. On sunday we held a nutritional seminar, covering 3 different dietary concepts: Zone, Paleo, and Whole foods. Choosing one, our members will follow it, keeping a nutritional log, and based on body fat percentage and a series of performance tests, we will determine the winner, and they will get a prize! The prize, for interests sake, is cold hard cash! Fucken A!

I am the coach leading the Paleo pack! You can find my journal on the Alchemy forums.

Anyways, so far today I’ve downed some delish, uber healthy Quinoa, a ridiculous concoction of blended greens, some nuts and some fruit. And already my crap has turned a beautiful shade of green! I’ve also already noticed that I’m excavating excess water outa me like a water balloon with a leak! Clearly the lack of dietary sodium makes a big (and fast) difference.

As for this gay fluish thing going on, it’s been bugging me since Friday morning. I’ve been waking up in a sweat, stuffed nose, and with a throat full of some nasty yellow phlegm garnished with a bit of blood. Sexy I know. Yesterday I was feeling a bit better, but today I woke up feeling like a raw anus again.

I chose to bail out of training in Toronto today, last day I’ll take off, don’t really want to be leaking nasty shit outa my face all over everybody else haha. Sleep in a bit after my 6am crossfit class, and felt lazy, so I went to the gym to bust some shit out on my own.

Agility ladder work, followed up by 100 double unders.

Then I busted out my trusty homemade Bulgarian strength training bag, to which I haven’t really used much, but after today, definitely will be making great use of it!

10 Round the world’s (each direction)

10 High pulls

10 Tricep extension (overhead)

10 Swings

5 rounds for time.

My time was embarrassing enough I wish not to share it haha. 17:30, fucken horrible. God damn bag CRUSHED me! That fucker’s a beast! It honestly does feel like wrestling with somebody. Going to do wonders for my functional strength.

And now that I’m all nice and cooled off from writing this blog, I’m going to finish up with some head movement shite, so I don’t get punched in the face so damn much! hahaha

-The Mutant Out!
